How to Prepare Your Property for Inspection

PRE INSPECTION CHECKLIST

Following our pre-inspection checklist before inspection day can help present the property at its best and assist in achieving the most accurate reporting outcome possible.

Taking the time to complete this checklist will assist with accessibility, presentation, and overall inspection flow, helping deliver the best possible reporting outcome for all parties involved.

Understanding the Inspection Process

Building inspections are a visual assessment of the property based on its condition at the time of inspection. Our inspectors are required to document visible defects, maintenance concerns, and safety issues identified on the day, in accordance with industry standards and reporting obligations. If you have renovations or painting in progress it is advised to complete prior to your inspection. The final report reflects what is accessible and visible during the inspection.

Access Matters

To complete a thorough inspection, our inspectors require safe and reasonable access to all accessible areas of the property on the day. This includes spaces such as garages, roof voids, subfloors, storage areas, external boundaries, and service areas where applicable. Limited or restricted access may result in inspection limitations being noted within the final report, as inspectors can only assess areas that are safely accessible at the time of inspection.

Inspection Day Preparation

Prior to inspection day, we recommend reviewing our pre-inspection checklist, ensuring all accessible areas of the property can be safely inspected, and addressing any obvious maintenance or presentation items you would prefer not to appear within the final report. Avoid booking your building inspection at the same time as photographers or stylists as this may impede our inspectors.
